Telehandler Training South West

Fork Lift Truck Training South West

We deliver Counterbalance forklift training at your site using your equipment with a maximum of 3 people per day.

What is involved in the lift truck training course?

During the training course candidates will be shown hazard awareness techniques in order to minimise dangers to both the operator and those in the surrounding area. Candidates will be introduced to the forklift truck type to be used with a breakdown of the daily pre-use inspection and maintenance principles to be followed before operating the truck. How to care for vehicle-specific fuelling requirements for battery-powered, LPG and diesel trucks.

Candidates will be trained on the starting, moving and stopping of the truck and how to manoeuvre in open and confined areas. The operation of hydraulic controls and how to assess weight and stability factors will be shown. The course will provide information on the handling of unladen and laden pallets with stacking /de stacking at various heights, with an emphasis on correct loading and unloading procedures.

During the training course, a safety video of best practices will be shown to candidates, with a theory test focusing on lift truck knowledge. Alongside this, a practical test of basic operating skills will be undertaken to test operator competency.

 

How often should forklift training be refreshed?

Forklift operator training should be undertaken at least once every 3-5 years. This will be sooner if an accident has occurred, or if the candidate has a long period of non-use.

Mobile Elevated Platform (MEWP) B3

3B Mobile Elevated Platform (MEWP)

The AITT accredited MEWP Operator Training Course is for anyone who needs to safely and effectively operate a MEWP. 

Also, anyone who may be required to supervise or rescue an operator would benefit from completing the course. This is an entry-level course; candidates do not need any prior experience of operating a MEWP.

 

The course consists of a theory section and test, followed by practical training and a test.  

 

We deliver MEWP training at your site using your equipment with a maximum of 3 people per day.

Abrasive Wheels Awareness Training South West

AB Abrasive Wheels Awareness
AITT Accredited

This Abrasive Wheels Awareness training course raises awareness of the dangers associated with abrasive wheels and the practical steps that can be taken to minimise and control the risks that they present.

The course covers what an abrasive wheel is, key legislation and guidance, the common hazards, selection and handling of wheels, safe use of wheels, the use of personal protective equipment and respiratory protective equipment and controlling the risk posed by dust.

Overhead Gantry Crane Training South West

Novice: Little or no experience operating the Overhead Crane

Experienced: Has relevant experience operating the Overhead Crane but has had no formal training 

 

Refresher: For Operators who have held their Overhead Crane certificate for over 3 years 

 

What is covered in the training course

This comprehensive training course covers essential aspects including conducting pre-use inspections of the machinery/lifting tackle and recognise the causes of load instability.

It is crucial for operators to attain a proficient skill level to ensure the safe and competent operation of a Overhead Crane set out in the HSE publications of Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998, and Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998.

R5 lorry mounted crane

R5 Lorry Mounted Crane

We aim to provide Lorry Mounted Cranes Training Course participants with the knowledge, skills and attitude to enable them to load/unload and move materials safely. 

 

Objectives:

On completion of this course, participants

1. will be able to identify the key aspects of legislation, which applies to the safe preparation and operation of a Lorry Mounted Crane

2. can prepare a Lorry Mounted Crane for work safely and operate it without risk to themselves or other people,

3. will be able to carry out daily and routine maintenance,

4. can state the identified knowledge that underpins understanding of using a Lorry Mounted Crane,

5. will know the procedure to follow when on a highway,

6. will know the limitations of the equipment.

 

Equipment:

Please ensure that all delegates have Safety Boots and Hi-vis jackets on the days of the training. A fully operational truck and crane in good condition is required and a safe area for practical skills.
